Alaska Bear Viewing, National Park Visits & Flightseeing Tours from Anchorage

We took a day trip to Lake Clark National Park with Alaska Air Service and it was fantastic! The flights over & back were scenic and comfortable. The small plane trips are exciting. We saw lots of bears at Lake Clark. They were on the beach and in the meadows. So many great pictures! Our pilot and guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He told us so much about the area. Lunch was provided with our trip and the sandwiches were very good. We would go with Alaska Air Service again.

My husband and I throughly enjoyed our trip to Lake Clark. The flight alone kept you glued to the window, but then you see bears! There were so many bears out foraging and lounging in the meadows and along the beach, it was an amazing experience. Our pilot Abby was awesome and very personable, that made the experience even better. Highly recommend!

Had reservations for July, as an RVer things always come up. I had to cancel my flight and got a full refund. No hassles no excuses and a thank you. Thanks I will use your service in the future.

Simply the best! Book this adventure. 100/10 I cannot say enough great things about our experience with Alaska Air Service. My friend, who lives in Anchorage, said that if we were to take a plane tour, it should be with a local company that employs Alaska-trained pilots and doesn't bring in summer pilots from the lower 48. This family-owned company has been operating in Alaska for years and exclusively uses Alaska-trained pilots. They are very committed to safety- our initial excursion got rescheduled due to unsafe flying conditions. The communication regarding our delay and subsequent cancellation/rescheduling was very clear. I'll be 100% honest - I was really nervous about putting my family in a small plane like this and going to look for bears, which could potentially kill us. However, I felt nothing but safe on this trip. Our pilot, Daniel, was AMAZING! He answered all my "anxious mom" questions about flying and safety. He was such a skilled pilot and very knowledgeable. My son and I get motion sick, so that was another concern of ours. During our week in Alaska, we fly on this plane, went on a boat, went on a train, and went for a long ride in a van. Every form of transportation we experienced, except the plane, made us sick. The flight was smooth, and the takeoffs/landings were perfect. We got to see plenty of bears. The vegetarian lunch was awesome. This was a bucket list experience for us, seeing bears in the wild, and it was awesome. I highly recommend this company.

Our family enjoyed a unique and amazing experience with Alaska Air Service that will be part of our "family story" for years to come. Bill (owner) and Katie (pilot) took amazing care of us. Very professional with a clear focus on both safety and fun. Katie narrated the flight and we learned a lot, while getting to know Alaska (and her) better. Since this was such a high ticket purchase, we shopped around in advance - we're glad we did and we made the right choice.

Our family of three went on a bear tour to Lake Clark National Park yesterday and it was the experience of a lifetime! Bill checked in with us a couple of times before the trip to see if we needed a ride and to make sure of our food allergies (we have several and they were great about accommodating). Bill greeted us and his friendly, unpretentious manner set us at ease immediately. Our pilot (Lucas) was excellent and the flight was breathtaking. We saw a lot of bears and a couple came to within 10 yards of us. We appreciated that they respect the bears space and do not “push” them as we saw some other groups do (the bears we saw up close approached us from a long ways away). Lucas and Kelly (another guide and pilot) were fun and great at their jobs. We highly recommend this company and tour - do it - you will not regret it!!!!

What a great day! The people made it great! Bill the owner, Daniel the pilot and Natalia on her day off all contributed to a very nice wildlife experience. We saw over 20 bears and beluga whales. It was the first day of our trip to Alaska and we thought this tour would make a great start. We were not wrong! We left Anchorage with another couple and our pilot, Jordan. En route to Lake Clark National Park we spotted a pod of beluga whales from the air and a moose swimming across a lake. After we landed on the shoreline beach we walked a short distance before seeing 3 adult coastal brown bears just going about their business maybe 20 yards away or less. While watching the bears a bald eagle landed on top of a small tree right next to us - about 6 feet away! Not satisfied with that Jordan then took us back up to land again where a mother bear and her 2 cubs were walking. Again not too far away but being careful not to upset the mother. We watched them for quite a long time. We went to another area and saw more eagles feeding. Then it was back to base. It was a wonderful experience and turned out to be the best day of our trip. We would call it a must do in Anchorage. Booking direct worked well.

Went for our second tour for the second year in a row. Always positively mind blown by the amazing crew here. You guys are amazing and gave my Dad another birthday present he won't forget. Get company to fly with. Very attentive to detail and knowledgeable about Alaska and the Denali area. We would fly again, and again with Bill!

Our flight siteseeing tour was the highlight of our trip to Alaska! Bill Starr is the Best! We will definitely plan on doing this again when visiting Alaska.

Justin was a great pilot and guide. Kept us safe, but also got us some great views of the bears. If you want to go to Lake Clark National Park - would definitely recommend.

Don't miss bear excursion The staff and pilot were amazing. We were worried about being in a small plane but the pilot-Daniel-had the smoothest flight and landing on the beaches we could imagine. Saw many bears and never felt in danger. The whole trip was wonderful. Would highly recommend it.

Wonderful experience! I booked a flight for me and my boyfriend as a surprise for his birthday. The flight crew was nothing short of amazing. Friendly and knowledgeable about the glacier tour. 100% recommend if you’re visiting Anchorage! And if you have the opportunity, add the optional landing - worth it!

This was an all-around 5 star experience. From flying over the mountains and seeing the glaciers to seeing many bears up close. It was a very memorable experience. A very amazing way to see Clark Lake National Park. Our tour guide, Lucas, kept us entertained and safe the entire time. Would recommend to anybody and everybody coming to Alaska.

My daughter and I went on a bear viewing trip today and it was awesome. Stephanie was the pilot and she was great, I would Definitely recommend Air Service Alaska and be sure to ask for Stephanie, she will go out of the way to make sure you have a great trip.

Bill Starr of AK Air Service provides an awesome, safe Off Grid Alaskan Experience. The planes are immaculate. The Pilot is very Professional. I would recommend AK Air Service any day! We had a spectacular Family Picnic at Knik Glacier, a short scenic flight out of Anchorage. PERFECT DAY!

Amazing and we had a great pilot, Daniel! Unfortunately we weren’t able to see the bears due to weather circumstances, so we flew over a glacier instead which was breathtaking, and got to see some beluga whales elsewhere.

Highlight of our AK trip by far! Thank you to Alaska Air Service for making such a memorable day for us. Jordan and Lucas were the pilots for the day with our groups. We had and Jordan and he was an amazing pilot and tour guide and we had a beautiful day exploring Lake Clark NP and seeing these beautiful bears up close and personal. 10/10 recommend

These people are as good as their word. They honor their cancellation policy without a hitch. My husband and I had to cancel our reservation due to a change in his work start date. I sent my cancellation request at 6:50 in the evening. By 8:35 the next morning, I had an email saying they had generated the refund. and my credit card was refunded that same day. Update: My husband's work date changed again, and we were able to make our trip after all! I listened to the gentle, almost imperceptible, stirring of the pool against its icy edge. We watched a stream become a rushing river that cut its path under the glacier. Standing in the mountain meadow, I realized that all of the times I'd wondered what it would be like to be "on that mountain" had at least one answer. I'm glad I took the pictures, not because they are better than the many that are already on the internet, but because when I see them I think, "I know I was really there, because I took that picture." The experience was incredible, our pilot was the perfect guide, and each staff person we encountered was friendly and professional. We are grateful and highly recommend.

Bill picked up us up from our hotel, drove up to airfield. We had an amazing opportunity to see Alaska from the air!

We spent the day in Lake Clark National Park watching brown bears with Katie, an incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and funny guide/pilot. She knew exactly where to guide us to see bears, and we got lucky and saw one just 15 feet from us! The flight was smooth and I felt very safe. She explained everything we were seeing to us. We got great photos. An phenomenal day!

Amazing views and peaceful scenery it was AWESOME! Just be very very bear aware ESPECIALLY on the Trail, If it wasn’t for our awesome pilot (Justin) we wouldn’t be here writing this review the bears got super up close! Great Airline I have had to be on 5 different flights in the last week and the Alaska flight from Fairbanks to Seattle was by far the best experience ever. Everyone was so nice, from check-in, TSA, Stewards, to listening to the Pilot. The plane seats are roomy and comfortable. I wish all my flights were that nice.

This was an incredible addition to our Alaska trip!! Totally worth the cost! We flew over the Eagle river and saw a number of glaciers including the Knik Glacier. We landed on a little air strip near Goose Bay. Everything was breathtaking and our pilot Carrie (sp?) was amazing!! Thanks a million!

First-rate in every way This could not have been better. Dan was a terrific guide and skilled pilot. We felt like family from the get-go. As a foursome with two men over six feet, we managed to fit in the plane comfortably, though quarters are tight. We were graced with perfect weather, smooth flights, and extraordinary views. we saw bears at two locations, easily a dozen of them or more, with a family of three walking comfortably close to us as they dug up clams and then took a nap on the rocks. Lunch was fresh and tasty (sandwiches, macaroni salad; chips, etc), and the outdoor toilets at the two rest stops are clean and private. Everything is thought through and well executed.

Great tour! Highlight of trip so far! This is the best excursion we have done so far! Fabulous bear watching. We saw 20 bears and 4 eagles. We saw moms and cubs as well as single juveniles that mom kicked out of the den. We saw brown and black bears.

Our pilot Bill made us feel comfortable and safe while providing the most spectacular views of the Alaskan back country! Bill and crew were friendly and knowledgeable. Took us to off the beaten path route en flight to first location. Gorgeous! Marine layer/haze created not enough bear viewing but can't put that all on them. Plus they were accommodating. Recommend

Our pilot/guide, Justin for the bear-viewing Lake Clark tour was incredible. He was fun, skilled, and gave us a lot of autonomy in what our day looked like. The flight to Lake Clark was spectacular. Landing and taking off on the beach, watching bears, and lunch on the beach is a day I’ll treasure forever. Visited from Milwaukee, WI and would recommend this trio and company (and Justin!) to anyone that is interested.

I cannot recommend this place enough! The other 3 people in my tour didn't show up. I was concerned the tour would canceled since it's not a money maker to fly 1 person to Lake Clark. Bill said absolutely not going to cancel. I got a private tour with Justin and it was an unforgettable day. Really appreciate you guys!

We were a group of 6, and we had an incredible time!! Our pilots/guides were Katie and Jordan. Both were very professional and friendly. We were allowed as much time as needed to enjoy the majesty of the bears. Everything from start to finish was too notch!!! We were looking forward to this experience, but it definitely exceeded ALL our expectations!! The scenery on the flights to and from the bear viewing sites is spectacular. I think Bill, the owner and our 2 pilots/guides were just as excited as we were that we had such a great day! It is apparent that they love what they do! I would highly recommend this company!!

Alaska Air Service was fabulous to work with from beginning to end. They were attentive, responsive, and easy to deal with. Our first time on a small plane (all 4 of us) was great. Our pilot and guide, Katie, was the best. Great views, great wildlife (we flew into 2 different areas of Lake Clark National Park), and a great experience. Also, when they said robust lunch they meant it and were very accommodating for some gluten free needs. We hope to return in the not too distant future and we WILL use Alaska Air Service again. This was a fantastic day with a fantastic team! Highly recommend this company to anyone coming into Alaska wanting to see the sites! Loved it all!
